Happy Valentine's Day! I am celebrating said most torturous of Hallmark holidays in true Venusian splendour. Had a delicious dinner tonight at Tati with my friends. Black Cod is a fantastic Valentine's date in lieu if an actual human man. It's been a very wintery month chez moi and somewhat of a challenging one. I seem to have come down with that heinous plague of a flu that's going around. And it just ain't leaving quickly enough for me. Cough cough. So I've mostly been doing a good job of lying around in bed and moaning. However, with the judicious application of many hot toddies and much vitamin TV, the patient seems to be improving. Please send eucalyptus rub, and Florence Nightingale.

Honey & ginger,

I'm having a "Rear Window" moment. Remember that scene where Grace Kelly sneaks into Thorwald's apartment looking for the wedding ring? Just after her and Stella dug up the flower bed trying to find the dog? Thorwald comes home, Grace Kelly hides in the bedroom. James Stewart watches everything through binoculars from his apartment across the courtyard. Thorwald enters the bedroom ... oh silhouettes! It's a struggle. James Stewart is tragically imprisoned by the brokenness of his leg and can't do anything to help her. But I won't ruin it for you. And I confess, the only similarity between my current situation and that which I described is this: I'm lying in my tiny Manhattan room incapable of moving. And I seem not to be able to keep myself from staring out across the courtyard at all the lights from all the windows in all the worlds beyond that which I know. I think I have the flu. How fair is it that I'm in NYC and sick as a kitten? Hopefully with the judicious application of old movies and hot toddies I will be a warrior princess again in no time. Now, I'm about to have a Cary Grant moment ...with Deborah Kerr at the top of the Empire State Building.

102nd floor please.

Am back from my wild travels and adventures out West and what a time I had... Went out purely for visitation and vacation with no gigs scheduled. This was good as I came down with a wretched case of the plague as soon as I got out there (ick) and spent a good flu-poisoned week lying around in the Crystal Court Motel. Still managed to kick it up Victoria-core as soon as I was no longer poisoned -but had to leave so sadly soon. Had a great time with my pals from Outlaw Social, went to visit Emily Carr's grave in Ross Bay cemetery, climbed my favourite tree in Beacon Hill park and ate at some of the most delicious restaurants in the world. Home now. Time for working. Proposals to write, practice practice.... and I'm recording again SOON! xxoo Kristin
