April 19, 2010
Sweetland, ON

Spring is in full force here at the Sweetland family ranch.  Puppies are pouncing, pansies are pushing and I'm packing my boxes! Have a couple weeks off before my next show and will likely spend it plotting the decor for my new apartment ... Sooo exciting. I'll be liberating many things I've left in my parents' basement over the years, much to their pleasure. My pink sparkly roller skates thought I'd forgotten them forever. As if.

In other news, my "401 Tour '10" with Devon Sproule and Mantler was a glorious success. Thanks so much to all who came out to the shows! We might need to make it a yearly adventure. I miss those guys already. My mom snapped some shots of Devon and I the other night at the London Music Club ... Three delicious words: New blue dress! Visit the Live Photo Gallery for said photos, and more.

Now I'm off to gallivant though green fields with happy poodles. And put a little work into my side-arm fastball.

Later skaters,

X

Windsor, ON

Hey y'all! Good morning from dingy motel row. Last night we played the Phog Lounge and had a total blast. Left the bar late to find a hotel, and somehow managed to end up in the skankiest motel of all our touring histories! I suppose we could have left upon beholding the scene that is our room. But we were up for an adventure. It was indeed fine photographic fodder ... Evidence below. Now we're packing the van and bidding adieu to train-bound Mantler ... From here we forge on just Devon and me! London awaits. I feel a bagel coming on.

Yarker, ON

Guten morgen from the delicious countryside ... Nothing like the smell of fresh-made cinnamon buns to rise one from one's prematurely ended slumber. Played last night at the Bookstore Café in Camden East, my second show on this tour with Devon Sproule and Mantler! Night before we rocked Montréal, went shopping for cute girlclothes and picked up the motherload of St. Viateur bagels. I smell a theme coming on for this little tour. And it's round, doughy and covered in sesame. And of course, it's all just a vehicle for butter.

Tonight we take Toronto! TRANZAC. Ten PM. Totally.

April 7, 2009
Cornwall, ON

Bonjour from Motel Cornholio. It's actually kind of nice here. For a cheap motel I got it good this time! The electric fireplace almost works, and I have two bathrooms ... How can I possibly have that much fun before I have to go to sleep?  Must be bright-eyed on the morrow and ready to rock! I'm picking up Devon Sproule and Mantler at Montréal's Gare Centrale for the first night of our tour! From there we head straight to soundcheck at Casa del Popolo ... Show starts 9:00 PM!

A bientôt,

La Petite Sweet

London, ON

My Pretties,

Bonjour from sunny and crisp London-town. Here for a wee visit before I'm back in Toronto, then up Lake Huron-way for Easter eggs avec famille! Soon after, I'll be hitting the road with American folk starlet Devon Sproule and Toronto-born experimental pop pianist Mantler. We're gonna give 'er up and down the 401 on a mini Ontario Spring tour ... If you're anywhere in Southern Ontario or Québec hope you can make it out to one of the shows! You can find our tour dates here.

In other news, Roots Music Canada has just posted some videos from my sweet interview in their new office this week! Many thanks to David Newland for the delightful interrogation and Andy Frank for the crack camera-work and editing!

Spring kisses,

x
